Travelling Abroad

The Motability scheme does not allow hirers to take the vehicle to any country other than EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

If you wish to take your vehicle abroad to the above countries for less than 90 days in any one policy year you do not need to contact RSA Motability. A Green Card is not a legal requirement for these countries but you should take your Certificate of Motor Insurance with you as proof of cover.

However, if your total travel to the above countries will exceed 90 days in any 12 month period you will need to contact RSA Motability. Cover for travel over 90 days in any one policy year will be charged at £29 per month or part month and a Green Card will be required as proof of Motability's consent for you to take your vehicle there.

These charges can be paid to RSA Motability by Debit/Credit Card, cheque or postal order.

It is a good idea to get breakdown cover for foreign travel, otherwise you will be responsible for any recovery charges. You will be offered RAC European Breakdown Cover when you request your VE103. To discuss your breakdown cover with RAC Motability Assist, telephone the foreign travel line on 0800 73 133 10.

To complete a request for Green Card cover you can either complete the on-line form by clicking on the email link below, or telephone our Customer Services Department. Full details can be obtained by clicking on the telephone link below.
